| Our Los Angeles autograph collector has been collecting autographs for more than 20 years, when he started out as a young man going to Palm Springs at the weekend when he heard a tip that Frank Sinatra was in town. He collected more than 20 autographs from Mr. Sinatra in person over many occasions and has several photographs with Old Blue Eyes himself. He then became fascinated with the whole art of collecting autographs and has amassed a huge personal collection. This week amongst the many different celebrity encounters he managed to get George Clooney arriving at Los Angeles airport, who was his usual charming self and obligingly signed several items. There was a near miss with Robert Redford, who even if you catch up with him, is often very hard to get to sign. We caught up with the very amiable Peter Falk at a signing in Hollywood for his new book 'Just One More Thing'. What a great character and very obliging with signing some great photos as Lt. Columbo. Another star who is tremendously nice to meet is Johnny Depp, who seems to make time for his fans and patiently will sit and sign what is put before him. Pictured below is a great signature of Charlton Heston that was obtained in person just a few years ago by our collector. Unfortunately Mr. Heston has not been seen in public for some time since the announcement of his illness.
Recently we caught up with the entire cast of the new hit show Heroes and managed to get a wonderful 11x14 publicity shot signed by all. This is rare to get all the stars to sign at one event and will be hard to get another completed cast shot in the future.
Our L.A. autograph collector has just released to us a few rare pieces from his own collection. Amongst those are the autograph he obtained in person from the late great James Stewart . This is a wonderful collectors item and we will be looking to offer more from his personal collection over the coming months.
Michelle Ryan formerly of EastEnders , is now hot property in the US as the star of the new version of The Bionic Woman. It debuts in the US in September and is getting a lot of buzz. Michelle has been doing the rounds of publicity and we tracked her down and got her to sign some stunning new publicity photos for the show.
Sir Roger Moore was recently honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and stayed for over two weeks in L.A. He enjoys fine dining and used the opportunity to get together with some old friends including Lauren Bacall and Kirk Douglas, who we caught up with and graciously signed. Sir Roger was always very pleasant and polite with collectors, a real gentleman. We finally got Robert Redford to sign when he was visiting Long Beach, Ca. He obliged us with a very clear signature, we were the only ones there so it was low key enough.
